The Almanack of World Football 2009 was published in September 2008 and covers world football in the 2007 and 2007-08 seasons.

The fourth year of the Almanack covers the brilliant performance of the Spanish national team at the finals of UEFA 2008 in Austria and Switzerland for which there are full match details - as well as for the qualifiers. Find out also how Egypt became African champions for the sixth time in our coverage of the 2008 CAF Africa Cup of Nations which includes the line-ups of every match played – including all of the qualifiers for Ghana 2008.

For all the continental club competitions full names of the players are included for the first time for every match, making the Almanack’s coverage of these tournaments the most detailed possible. As usual you will be able to find about every game played by Manchester United on their way to their third European Cup triumph, after beating Chelsea in the first all-English final. Find out how, LDU Quito became the first club from Ecuador to win the Copa Libertadores; how Al Ahly missed out on an unprecedented hat-trick of Champions League titles in Africa as Tunisia’s Etoile du Sahel finally got their hands on the trophy; or how the most popular club in Japan, Urawa Reds, became Asian champions for the first time.

Once again our coverage of League and Cup football around the world is unrivalled with tables and results from even the smallest nations right up to the powerhouses of world football. For the first time there are also match details for every game played by clubs in the major leagues of the world – Argentina, Australia, Brazil, England, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Scotland, Spain and the USA.
